From Stress to Serenity: The TLC PLC Advantage
Say goodbye to stress and hello to serenity...
Teaching Well's TLC PLC is a way to offer space to ALL education professionals (teachers, school leaders, school counselors, paraprofessionals, etc.) to not only support their well-being but also learn tools and techniques that can help support their students’ well-being.
The concept of a TLC PLC is to normalize self-care and to build a caring and supportive community among staff members. By considering self-care as part of a professional learning community, staff members can begin to more creatively and openly bring these practices to the classroom and school.
The sessions are organized seasonally and themed based on the flow and feel of that particular time of the school year. The TLC PLC is designed specifically to support all school professionals through the different challenges a school year brings.
Each session, participants will gather virtually and be led through a supportive mindfulness self-care practice. The theme of each week will vary, but each meeting will follow the same general routine.
There is an added benefit of being in a supportive community with a diverse group of educators, as these meetings are open to all school professionals.
The purpose is to provide a space for educators to go and a routine for them to follow to support their own health and well-being so that they can better support their students.
Here's what we'll do each time...
How is Teaching Well's PLC different from other PLCs?
Our PLC (Professional Learning Community) is different because the data we use starts with how our educators and school leaders feel at the beginning of the process and at the end of our time together.
We are a professional learning community that is obsessed with YOUR personal well-being outcomes. We KNOW (and the data agrees) that when you are WELL, your students' outcomes improve.
Our PLC focuses on prioritizing TLC. Our version of Tender Loving Care is...
Tracing your tendencies
Learn about scripts
Create opportunities for calm
We know that when we trace our tendencies we start to understand our automatic reactions to situations. When we commit to learning about scripts we will see how mindfulness practices can help us unravel these reactions. Finally when we create opportunities for calm, we take these tools to take back to our schools and classrooms with a renewed perspective of where we want to go and how we are able to show up in our schools.
Each TLC PLC meeting will help support developing these skills in a practical and efficient way, while also providing space and time to practice prioritizing our own well-being.
I’m Danielle Nuhfer, a teacher turned coach with over 20 years in the field of education. I've overcome severe burnout not once, but twice. Those experiences taught me invaluable lessons. Embracing the principles of being WELL has not only allowed me to bounce back but also inspired me to help fellow educators discover the same rejuvenation.
Well teachers change the world, and empowered school leaders pave the way. By prioritizing well-being, educators do more than just survive – they flourish. And school leaders? They do more than just manage – they inspire.
Join me in changing our schools (and our world!), by learning how to feel well, live well, and teach well.
